The GameCube version of the third main entry in the tactical shooter series. You play as a Rainbow team leader in first person, moving through counter-terrorist operations that involve hostage rescue, securing buildings and neutralising armed threats. Compared with the earliest games in the series, orders are issued to your squad during play using a streamlined command system, so you direct teammates to move, open doors and clear rooms as the situation develops rather than scripting everything beforehand. You still choose weapons and equipment before deploying, including gear suited to breaching and quiet approaches. Damage remains lethal, so using cover, doorways and coordinated entries matters more than fast reflexes. Missions are objective-driven and often require identifying targets carefully to avoid harming hostages. The presentation includes mission briefings that connect the operations into a story.
