The Game Boy Advance took Nintendo's handheld line into full colour with a wider screen and hardware suited to 2D action, platformers and role-playing games. It plays original Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges as well, which is part of why it stayed popular long after newer handhelds arrived. The library leans heavily on sharp 2D design, plus a run of Super Nintendo-era ports and remakes. Titles listed here include Pokemon Ruby, Metroid Zero Mission, Golden Sun, Mario Kart Super Circuit, Fire Emblem and Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, alongside the Mega Man Battle Network and Super Mario Advance series. Around those sit hundreds of licensed cartoon and movie games, puzzle titles and sports releases that defined handheld gaming for a generation. Cartridges run on the original GBA, the GBA SP and the Game Boy Micro, and most also work in a Nintendo DS or DS Lite. Browse the full list to see what is currently available.
Every game is cleaned and tested before it ships. Listings marked [Homebrew] are reproduction cartridges carrying a fan translation; everything else is an original cartridge. Our games are backed by a 1-year warranty.
Game Boy Advance cartridges play on more hardware than almost anything else we sell: the original GBA, the GBA SP, the Game Boy Micro, the Nintendo DS and DS Lite (in the bottom slot), and a TV through the GameCube's Game Boy Player. The DSi, the 3DS and the Switch have no GBA slot. GBA games are not region-locked.
Most GBA games save without a battery. The exceptions people ask about are Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, which carry a battery for the in-game clock: when it runs dry the game still saves, but time-based events stop happening. Our save battery guide explains the difference.
The GBA is also where most fake cartridges are, especially Pokémon games. Before buying one anywhere, read how to tell a real Pokémon cartridge from a fake. A note on our own listings: anything marked [Homebrew] is a reproduction cartridge carrying a fan translation of a game that was never released in English, not an original Nintendo release.
GBA games came in small cardboard boxes that were easy to crush and usually thrown away, so a complete copy with box and manual costs far more than the cartridge. Game Only is the cartridge by itself.
Prices follow the market and are shown on each listing. Orders of $50 or more ship free in the US, and every game is backed by our 1-year warranty.
