Mega Man Battle Network is a role-playing game for the Game Boy Advance that reimagines the series in a networked setting. You play as Lan Hikari, a schoolboy who explores towns and buildings in an overhead view, then jacks his NetNavi MegaMan.EXE into computer systems to travel through the network as a separate maze-like area. Battles happen in real time on a grid split between your side and the enemy's: you move MegaMan between panels, fire a basic buster, and spend Battle Chips from a hand for stronger attacks, then wait for the chip selection screen to refill. Chips collected from enemies and shops are organized into a customizable folder. The story follows an investigation into viruses and a group causing network incidents.
