This is the Game Boy Advance version of Max Payne, adapting the noir shooter to the handheld with an overhead, angled viewpoint instead of the third-person camera used on consoles and PC. You play a New York detective hunting the people responsible for his family's murder, moving room by room through city buildings and industrial spaces while gunning down mobsters and hired thugs. Bullet time returns as a core mechanic, slowing the action so you can line up shots and dodge incoming fire, and you carry a spread of firearms from pistols to shotguns and automatic weapons. Story sequences are delivered through comic-style panels with text, keeping the graphic-novel presentation of the original. Levels emphasise navigating tight interiors and clearing enemies as you advance.
