Zapper on Game Boy Advance is a handheld version of the action-platformer starring a cricket. You hop your way through obstacle courses filled with moving platforms, gaps, water, and roaming enemies, timing each jump to make it across safely. Collecting eggs and other items scattered through the levels is a core objective, with some placed along riskier routes off the main path. An electric attack lets you take out certain hazards instead of dodging them. Stages are grouped into themed sets and broken up by boss encounters, and later levels layer on faster moving obstacles and tighter timing windows. The portable release uses a top-down and side-scrolling mix suited to the smaller screen, with the same emphasis on precise hopping and route memorization.
