Season of Ice is a Spyro adventure made for the Game Boy Advance, presented from an isometric viewpoint rather than in full 3D. Fairies have been trapped in ice, and Spyro sets out through a series of themed worlds to free them, with the fairies you rescue acting as the main measure of progress and opening access to further areas. Movement and combat follow the console games in simplified form: you charge, flame enemies, glide across gaps and swim, and gather gems and other items along the way. Levels hide optional areas and challenges, and there are boss encounters and minigame-style sections between the main stages. Sparx the dragonfly appears in his usual supporting role, and the game uses sprite-based graphics throughout.
