Wave Race 64 is a jet ski racing game for the Nintendo 64. You pick a rider and compete on water courses where the surface itself is simulated in detail, with swells and wake that lift and drop your craft and change how it handles from moment to moment. Courses are marked by buoys that must be passed on the correct side; missing them drains your ability to continue in the race, so clean lines matter as much as top speed. Leaning into turns and using the throttle carefully helps you carve corners without losing momentum. Alongside championship racing there are time trial and stunt-focused modes, the latter awarding points for tricks performed off ramps and waves. Courses range from calm harbors to rougher open water and shifting conditions.
