Gauntlet Seven Sorrows is an action game that takes the series' fantasy dungeon crawling in a more combo-driven direction. You choose from a set of hero classes with distinct weapons and fighting styles, then move through dungeon environments cutting down waves of monsters. Combat is built around chaining attacks together rather than simply firing at range, with special moves and heavier finishers becoming available as you play. Enemies arrive in large groups, so positioning and crowd control matter, and the familiar Gauntlet staples of keys, treasure and health pickups shape how you move through levels. Co-operative multiplayer lets several players fight through the campaign together on the same screen, sharing the loot that drops. Boss encounters punctuate the stages, and characters develop as you progress, unlocking additional abilities and attack options.
