You play as Tommy Vercetti, released from prison and sent to Vice City for a drug deal that goes wrong, leaving him to rebuild his standing and take over the city's criminal trade. The setting is a 1980s-styled coastal city of neon, beaches and art deco buildings, split across islands that open up as the story progresses. Missions come from a cast of criminal contacts, and between them you can explore freely, cause trouble and take on side activities. Vice City adds motorcycles, helicopters and other new vehicles to the series' mix of cars and boats, and lets Tommy buy properties and businesses that generate income and unlock further jobs. Multiple radio stations play licensed period music and talk programming as you drive.
