The third entry in the Splinter Cell series, presented on PlayStation 2 as a third-person stealth game starring Sam Fisher. Each mission drops you into a guarded location and asks you to reach objectives without being detected. Meters on screen show your visibility in light and shadow and the amount of noise you are making, so you can judge when to move and when to wait. Fisher's equipment covers night vision and thermal goggles, a silenced pistol, a rifle with alternate ammunition, and a knife used for cutting, subduing and interrogating. Enemies can be grabbed and questioned, then hidden away from patrol paths. Environments offer several routes through, including vents, ledges and rooftops, and much of the play involves observing guard behaviour before committing to a plan.
