Kirby's Adventure is a side-scrolling platformer for the NES in which Kirby inhales enemies and swallows them to copy their abilities, gaining attacks such as fire, sparks, a sword, a cutter blade or an umbrella. Abilities can be discarded and swapped freely, and many are needed to reach hidden rooms and switches. Levels are selected from world maps dotted with doors, including museums where abilities can be picked up and rooms hosting sub-games for extra lives. Kirby can also float by inflating himself, letting you drift over obstacles at the cost of his inhale. Each world ends in a boss fight, and the story follows the Star Rod and King Dedede. Progress is saved to the cartridge.
