Aero the Acro-Bat is a side-scrolling platformer for the Super Nintendo featuring Aero, an acrobatic bat who takes on the villain Edgar Ektor after he seizes control of Aero's circus. Levels frequently give you objectives beyond simply reaching the end, such as striking a number of targets or flying through rings, so you are encouraged to learn each stage layout rather than run straight through. Aero's main attack is an airborne spinning drill, and he makes use of trampolines, cannons and roller coasters as he moves through big-top and amusement park settings. Movement is momentum-based and rewards careful jumping and mid-air control. The game uses bright cartoon sprite work, layered backgrounds and a lively soundtrack across its stages.
