Toy Story on the Super Nintendo is an action-platformer based on the animated film, closely related to the Genesis version. You control Woody, whose pull-string works as a whip for attacking and for swinging across gaps, moving through stages set in Andy's bedroom, Sid's house, the moving van and other locations from the movie. Level types are varied, with standard side-scrolling platforming broken up by sequences that change perspective, including a race behind an RC car. Characters and scenery use pre-rendered 3D artwork converted into sprites, giving the game a rounded, plastic look. Collectibles are hidden through the stages and progress relies on precise jumping and timing. The soundtrack and cutscene stills draw directly on the film's story.
