Frogger for the PlayStation reworks the arcade concept into a level-based game viewed from an angled overhead perspective. You still hop one step at a time, but instead of a single road-and-river screen, you move through themed worlds with their own hazards, moving platforms and enemies. The goal in each stage is to locate and rescue a set number of baby frogs before the timer runs out, which means routing carefully through obstacles rather than simply heading forward. Tongue-grabbing and hopping are your only real abilities, so survival depends on timing and reading movement patterns. Environments include construction sites, caves, swamps and icy areas. The game supports a two-player mode, and 3D polygonal backdrops replace the flat sprite lanes of the original.
