4x4 Evo 2 is an off-road racing game for the Nintendo GameCube and a sequel to 4x4 Evo. You race licensed sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks across open outdoor courses made up of dirt, rock, mud, snow and water, where routes are loose enough that choosing your own line through the terrain is part of the driving. A career progression has you competing in events to earn money, then spending it on additional vehicles and on performance parts that change how a truck accelerates, grips and absorbs punishment. Single races and time-based challenges are available separately, and vehicles can be given custom paint and visual tweaks. Trucks feel heavy and top-heavy over jumps and side slopes, so smoothing out landings is important.
