Alien Resurrection is a first-person shooter for the PlayStation based on the film. You move through the corridors, labs and holds of a spacecraft overrun by aliens, fighting them with firearms while managing scarce ammunition and health. Dark, enclosed environments and enemies that can appear from vents and ceilings keep the pace tense, and sections of the game involve finding keycards, activating machinery and locating routes onward as much as shooting. The control scheme uses both analogue sticks on the DualShock, with one stick for movement and the other for looking and aiming, an arrangement that was not yet standard for console shooters at the time. Presentation draws on the film's characters and setting, with sound cues used to signal nearby threats you cannot see.
