Conker's Pocket Tales is a top-down action adventure for Game Boy Color starring Conker the squirrel. His birthday party is ruined when his presents and his girlfriend Berri are taken, and you set out across a series of overworld areas to recover them. Play involves exploring maps from an overhead view, defeating enemies, collecting items and solving light puzzles that gate progress, such as finding keys or moving objects to open new routes. Conker can pick up and throw certain items and use tools he acquires along the way. The game is divided into distinct regions, each with its own enemies and obstacles, and boss encounters cap off sections. The tone is cartoonish and family-friendly compared with Conker's later console outings.
