Gex 64 brings the wisecracking gecko's 3D platforming to the Nintendo 64. You control Gex, a television-obsessed reptile who explores worlds built around TV and film genres, from horror sets to cartoon environments and sci-fi stages. Movement is built around platform jumping, climbing surfaces with your sticky feet, and a tail whip used both to attack enemies and to bounce off targets. Progress comes from collecting remote controls scattered through each level, with some hidden behind optional objectives and secret areas that open further stages. Enemies, hazards and moving platforms are themed to whichever channel you happen to be inside. Gex comments on the action throughout with a running stream of one-liners referencing television and pop culture, a signature element of the series.
