Kessen 2 moves the series from Japan to ancient China, drawing on the era of the Three Kingdoms and the rivalry between Liu Bei and Cao Cao. As in the first game, you command large armies in real-time battles, giving orders to units of infantry, cavalry, archers and other troop types spread across the field, then watching engagements play out with hundreds of soldiers on screen. This entry leans into fantastical elements, with sorcerers and elemental magic capable of striking whole formations. Officers have their own abilities and can duel one another during battles. Cinematic sequences between engagements carry the story and the personal drama around the campaign, and choices and outcomes affect the path the campaign takes. You can play through the war from either side.
