Kessen is a real-time tactical battle game set during Japan's Sengoku period, built around the conflict between Tokugawa Ieyasu and Ishida Mitsunari. Rather than managing a full campaign map in detail, you fight a series of large-scale battles, positioning armies of infantry, cavalry, archers and gunners across the field and issuing orders to individual units. Clashes zoom in to show masses of troops fighting, and generals can trigger special tactics that shift the balance of an engagement. Terrain, morale and the timing of reinforcements all affect how a battle unfolds. Between engagements, pre-rendered cinematics and voiced dialogue advance the historical narrative, and the outcome of your battles determines which path the story takes. You can play the campaign from either side of the war.
