Knockout Kings 2003 is a boxing game with a roster of licensed professional fighters. Bouts are fought in a 3D ring from a ringside view, using separate punches for jabs, hooks and uppercuts aimed at the head or body, together with blocking, leaning, footwork and clinching. Punching drains stamina, so rounds involve pacing yourself, working openings and covering up when hurt; damage shows on fighters and knockdowns are counted by the referee. Alongside exhibition matches there is a career mode where you create a boxer, train between fights to raise attributes, and climb the rankings toward championship bouts, with weight classes separating opponents. Two players can box against each other. The GameCube version includes commentary, corner scenes between rounds and slow-motion replays of significant knockdowns.
