Kung Fu Panda for PlayStation 2 is an action platformer based on the DreamWorks animated film. You play mainly as Po, the panda who trains in kung fu, moving through linear levels that mix platform jumping with brawling against groups of enemies. Combat uses light and heavy strikes that can be chained into combos, with new moves and abilities unlocked as you progress. Some sequences switch to other characters from the story, and levels are broken up by chases, climbing sections and boss fights. Cutscenes and voice work carry the plot along, following the broad outline of the movie. Difficulty is pitched toward younger players, with frequent checkpoints and collectibles hidden along the way to encourage exploring each stage.
