The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon is an action platformer for the PlayStation 2 and the third entry in the Legend of Spyro storyline. Spyro and the dragoness Cynder begin the game chained together, and much of the design works around that pairing: they fight side by side, and a second player can take control of Cynder for co-operative play. Unlike the previous two games, Spyro can fly freely in most areas rather than only in scripted sections, which opens up the level layouts. Combat mixes melee combos with elemental breath attacks, each character having their own set of powers that can be upgraded as you progress. You explore ruined environments, solve simple traversal puzzles, and face bosses, with voiced cutscenes advancing the story between stages.
