Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions is a standalone collection of training scenarios built on the mechanics of Metal Gear Solid for the PlayStation. Rather than telling a story, it presents short, self-contained challenges inside stark wireframe simulation spaces. Objectives vary: sneak past guards without being seen, clear rooms of enemies, practise with individual weapons such as the handgun, rifle and explosives, and solve puzzle-like variations that change the rules. Later sets include unusual modes that alter scale and perspective, plus timed and target-based tasks. Because the environments are deliberately abstract, the focus falls entirely on movement, camera and radar reading, and the timing of guard patrols.
