Underground puts you in the tuner-car street scene of a city that races at night. Starting with an entry-level import, you enter a career of events and spend winnings on performance and visual upgrades. Race types cover circuits, point-to-point sprints, drag races that require manual shifting and timing, and drift events where you score points for holding slides. Performance parts change acceleration, top speed, braking and grip, while body kits, wheels, spoilers, paint, vinyls and underglow change how the car looks. Courses run through traffic-filled streets with tight turns and shortcuts, and nitrous gives short bursts of speed. The PlayStation 2 release includes multiplayer racing alongside the single-player career and a garage for building cars.
