Obscure: The Aftermath is a survival horror game for the PlayStation 2 and a sequel to the original Obscure. The story moves from high school to a college campus, where a strange plant and the mutations it causes draw a group of students into a fight for survival. You control a party of characters, switching between them and pairing them up, with each having their own ability that helps in exploration and combat. Light is a central mechanic: many creatures are weakened when exposed to it, so torches and other light sources are used as weapons alongside melee attacks and firearms. Two players can play cooperatively on one screen, with the second player taking over a partner character. Characters can be killed permanently, altering who remains for later chapters.
