The PlayStation 2 version of the third main Rainbow Six game. You lead a counter-terrorist team in first person through missions built around hostage rescue, securing locations and eliminating armed hostiles. Squad control happens largely in the field: you point at doors, corners and positions and issue orders to your teammates, coordinating entries rather than watching a plan play out on its own. Before each mission you handle loadouts, choosing weapons and equipment suited to the objective, including tools for breaching and quieter approaches. Firefights are short and lethal, so working angles, using cover and moving deliberately are the core skills. Objectives often place restrictions on you, such as keeping hostages unharmed, and failure usually means replaying the mission with a different approach. Briefings tie the individual operations into a continuing storyline.
