Secret Weapons Over Normandy is an arcade-style aerial combat game set during the Second World War for the PlayStation 2. You fly missions across European and other theatres, taking off in period fighters and bombers to engage enemy aircraft, strafe ground targets, escort friendly planes and attack ships and installations. Flight handling is accessible rather than simulation-focused, with forgiving controls and on-screen prompts guiding you toward objectives. Missions are linked by briefings and narrative sequences that follow a squadron of pilots, and completing objectives unlocks additional aircraft and upgrades that carry into later sorties. Planes are drawn from several nations, each with different speed, durability and armament. Play is single-player, with cockpit and external chase camera views available during flight.
