The World Is Not Enough on Game Boy Color is a handheld adaptation of the James Bond film. You play as Bond across a series of mission-based levels, each opening with a briefing that lists the objectives you need to complete before the exit becomes available. Play involves moving through enemy-held areas, dealing with guards, finding keys and switches to open the way forward, and using equipment supplied for particular assignments. The presentation uses the Game Boy Color's small screen with sprite-based characters and environments, and the story is carried by text sequences between missions. Progress runs in a linear order through the campaign, with later levels adding more enemies and more involved objective lists. It is a single-player game built around completing assignments rather than open exploration.
