10-Yard Fight is an early American football game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Play is viewed from above, scrolling vertically as you move up the field, and the rules are simplified compared with later football titles: you pick from a small set of running and passing options, hand off or throw to a receiver, and try to gain yards while defenders converge. On defense you control a player attempting to bring down the ball carrier. Rather than a league or season structure, the game advances you through progressively tougher levels of competition, moving up a ladder as you win. Controls are minimal, with one button for the snap and pass and another for a burst of speed. A two-player mode lets a second person take the opposing side.
