Army Men: Sarge's Heroes 2 returns to the plastic-soldier war with Sarge leading green forces against the Tan army in a third-person shooter campaign. Missions move between toy-scale battlefields and oversized human environments, using household and outdoor settings as terrain. You collect weapons through the levels, including rifles, machine guns, grenades, bazookas, flamethrowers and mines, and objectives cover destroying enemy positions, rescuing green troops and pursuing Tan officers. Certain stages provide vehicles or mounted weapons, and briefings between missions set out goals. The Nintendo 64 release includes split-screen multiplayer alongside the single-player campaign, with deathmatch play on dedicated maps. Controls follow the series pattern of movement, strafing and weapon cycling, with health and ammunition pickups scattered through each level.
