Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is a tag-team fighting game that pits Marvel super heroes and villains against characters drawn from Capcom's own series. You build a team of three fighters and swap between them mid-match, calling in your reserves for assist attacks or tagging them in to continue a combo. Matches end when all three of a team's members are knocked out, and each character carries a super meter that can stack for multi-level hyper combos, including team-wide hyper attacks. The control scheme uses a simplified button layout with dedicated assist buttons. Fighters are drawn as 2D sprites over 3D backgrounds, backed by a jazz-flavoured soundtrack. The roster is large, and characters are unlocked over time through play. The Dreamcast version supports arcade play, versus matches, and training.
