Poseidon Wars 3D is a naval combat game for the Sega Master System built around the SegaScope 3-D glasses, which add a stereoscopic depth effect on compatible displays. You command a submarine, surfacing and diving as you engage enemy ships and aircraft. The view looks out across the water from your vessel, and you line up targets by moving a sight across the screen and firing torpedoes and other weaponry at threats approaching from a distance. Managing depth is part of play, since submerging and rising change what you can attack and what can attack you. Missions continue as long as your submarine holds out against incoming fire. It can be played without the glasses, though the 3-D effect is the feature the game is designed around. Controls are simple, with the emphasis on aiming and timing rather than complex maneuvering.
