Seaman is a virtual pet game for the Dreamcast in which you raise an unusual fish with a human face. It uses the Dreamcast Microphone, letting you speak to the creature, which listens, responds, and asks you questions of its own, remembering things you tell it across sessions. Rather than a scored challenge, play consists of daily tending: adjusting the tank's temperature, feeding your Seaman, keeping the water clean, and holding conversations as the creature develops through distinct life stages. Progress happens in real time, so the game is designed around returning to check on your fish regularly. A narrator provides commentary and guidance on the creature's biology and needs. The tone is dry and often deliberately blunt, with the Seaman itself making unprompted remarks about you and its situation.
