VR Troopers is an action game for the Sega Genesis based on the live-action television series of the same name. You take control of the show's armoured troopers and battle waves of mutants and machine enemies drawn from the series' virtual reality setting, working toward confrontations with tougher opponents. Combat relies on punches, kicks and jumping attacks, with the trooper characters differing in how they handle. Digitised character art and stills from the show are used in the presentation, and stage backdrops draw on the series' mix of urban locations and virtual environments. Play is structured around clearing each stage's opposition before advancing to the next, and progress is single-player. Familiarity with the television show is not required to follow the action, which stays focused on straightforward fighting.
