Donkey Kong Country is a side-scrolling platform game for the Super Nintendo, built around pre-rendered 3D character and object art. King K. Rool and the Kremlings have stolen the Kongs' banana hoard, and Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong travel across the island to get it back. You control one Kong at a time and can switch between them, with Donkey Kong hitting harder and Diddy moving more nimbly. Rolls, jumps and thrown barrels handle enemies, and stages hide bonus rooms, KONG letters and secret routes. Animal buddies such as a rhino and a swordfish change how certain sections play, while mine cart rides, swimming levels and rope climbs vary the pace. Each world ends with a boss fight, and a two-player mode lets you alternate or trade off progress.
