The Super Nintendo game released in North America as Final Fantasy III, known elsewhere as Final Fantasy VI. Set in a world where magic has largely been replaced by machinery, the story follows a large ensemble cast, including Terra, Locke, Celes, Edgar, Sabin and others, in conflict with an expanding Empire. Each character has a unique command in battle alongside standard attacks and magic, and magicite lets you teach spells and summons to almost anyone. Combat is turn-based with the Active Time Battle system. The world map changes dramatically partway through, and much of the later game is built around tracking down scattered party members and optional dungeons. Multiple parties are used in certain sequences, requiring you to spread equipment and abilities around.
