Madden NFL 08 on Nintendo Wii adapts EA Sports' American football series to motion controls. The Wii Remote and Nunchuk handle actions such as throwing, kicking, running with the ball and making tackles through gestures rather than button presses alone, and play calling is done through on-screen menus. You can play exhibition games, take a team through a season, and use franchise-style management options, and the Wii version also includes lighter, arcade-leaning modes and mini-games built around the motion controls for shorter sessions and party play. Multiplayer supports head-to-head games on the same console. Presentation is more stylised than the higher-powered console versions, reflecting the Wii hardware, while the core structure of picking an NFL team, calling plays and controlling players on the field remains intact.
