Carrier is a survival horror game set aboard a large aircraft carrier where the crew has been transformed by a biological infection. You explore the ship's decks, corridors and holds from a third-person perspective, fighting mutated enemies with firearms, managing limited ammunition and reading documents and messages that explain what happened on board. A handheld scanning device is central to play, letting you check people and creatures to determine whether they are infected before deciding how to deal with them. Progress involves locating keys and codes, restoring systems and backtracking through areas of the ship as new routes open up. Two playable characters approach the same incident from different angles, and cutscenes carry the story between exploration sections. The atmosphere leans on confined interiors, sparse lighting and audio cues warning of nearby threats.
