Dragon Warrior Monsters is a monster-collecting role-playing game for the Game Boy Color set in the Dragon Quest world. You play Terry, drawn into another world where you recruit monsters and use them to fight on your behalf. Rather than controlling a human party, you build a team of three creatures, which act with some independence in turn-based battles while you issue general orders and tactics. Monsters are tamed by defeating them and feeding them meat in randomly generated dungeons, and two monsters can be bred together to produce offspring that inherit traits and can belong to species neither parent had. Progress revolves around clearing dungeon gates and entering tournaments in the arena. Series staples like slimes and drackies appear throughout as recruitable monsters.
