Dune for the Sega CD is an adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel that mixes adventure exploration with resource management and strategy. You play as Paul Atreides on the desert planet Arrakis, travelling between sietches and locations by ornithopter, speaking with characters, and gradually building support among the Fremen. Along the way you assign Fremen troops to harvest spice or to train for combat, manage equipment, and expand your influence across the planet as the conflict with House Harkonnen escalates. The interface is largely point-and-click, with map screens for travel and troop orders. The CD release makes use of imagery drawn from the setting and a soundtrack that plays over the exploration and strategy sections. It suits players interested in slower-paced, story-driven strategy.
