Gunstar Super Heroes is a run-and-gun action game developed by Treasure for the Game Boy Advance, following the Genesis title Gunstar Heroes. You pick one of two characters and fight through side-scrolling stages, shooting in multiple directions, sliding and using close-range attacks. Weapons are switched between set types rather than freely combined, and a charged attack builds as you fire. Stages break up the standard platforming with vehicle sections, chases and boss battles against large multi-part machines that shift forms as their parts are destroyed. Some sequences and enemies revisit ideas from the earlier game, presented with the GBA's sprite scaling and rotation effects. Play is single-player, with difficulty settings and a stage structure suited to short sessions.
