Iron Man / X-O Manowar in Heavy Metal is a side-scrolling action game for the Game Boy featuring Marvel's Iron Man alongside Valiant's X-O Manowar. Both armored heroes are playable, and you can switch between them as you work through stages, using their differing attacks and movement to handle enemies and obstacles. Play centers on fighting through levels with ranged blasts and melee attacks, dealing with waves of henchmen and mechanical foes, and reaching boss encounters at the end of stages. Some sections involve flight or hovering, taking advantage of the armored suits. The Game Boy release is a scaled-down monochrome version of a game that also appeared on other systems of the era, with simplified graphics and stage layouts suited to the handheld.
