The King of Fighters EX2: Howling Blood is a Game Boy Advance fighting game continuing the handheld EX line based on SNK's series. It keeps the team-based structure, with fighters facing off one at a time until one side has no members remaining, and combines returning King of Fighters characters with fighters introduced in this branch of the series. Play uses the familiar mix of normal attacks, directional special move inputs and gauge-powered super moves, mapped to the GBA's controls. Alongside the single-player tournament ladder there are versus matches, practice options and link cable support for two-player play. Story sequences frame the tournament between fights, tying the roster and its rivalries to the EX games' own plot thread.
