A handheld entry set between the first two Kingdom Hearts games. Sora, Donald and Goofy enter Castle Oblivion, where their memories and abilities are stripped away and the party is pursued by members of the black-coated Organization. Worlds are built from cards: you use map cards to generate rooms with different properties, then fight in real-time battles where every attack, spell, item and summon comes from a deck you assemble beforehand. Cards have numeric values, and playing a higher card breaks an opponent's move, so battles turn on card management and reloading your deck under pressure. Stacking cards together produces sleights, which are stronger combination attacks. The story revisits Disney settings drawn from Sora's memories and introduces Riku as a separate playable campaign.
