Lufia: Ruins of Lore is a role-playing game for the Game Boy Advance set in the world of the Lufia series. You guide a party through towns, overworld areas and dungeons, taking on turn-based battles that use menu-selected attacks, magic and items. Progress comes from levelling characters, upgrading equipment and pushing further into new regions as the story unfolds through dialogue and scripted scenes. Dungeon exploration mixes combat with navigation, and the game keeps the series' fantasy setting of kingdoms, ruins and ancient threats. Because it is a handheld entry, the structure suits shorter play sessions, with battery-backed saving. Players familiar with the Super Nintendo Lufia games will recognise the general shape of the systems, though this entry stands on its own for anyone new to the series.
