Characters from the Mario and Sonic series compete in a collection of summer Olympic events. You choose from a roster drawn from both franchises and take part in track and field, swimming, table tennis, archery, shooting, fencing, gymnastics and similar disciplines. Events use motion control, with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk swung, tilted or pointed depending on the sport, and some events also use rapid button presses. Characters have differing strengths in areas such as speed, power and skill, which affects who suits which event. You can play single events, string several together in circuits, or work through Olympic-style competitions, and multiplayer lets several players compete on the same console. Presentation uses licensed Olympic branding, venues and medal ceremonies.
