Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games for Nintendo 3DS brings characters from the Mario and Sonic series together to compete in events based on Olympic sports. You pick a character and take part in short athletic contests, with control schemes that vary by event and make use of the system's buttons, touch screen and motion sensing. Events cover track and field, swimming, and other disciplines from the Games, alongside additional themed challenges that add Mario and Sonic elements. Play is built around quick rounds where timing, rhythm and button accuracy determine your result, with medals awarded for placing. Single-player modes let you work through sets of events, and multiplayer options let others join in for head-to-head competition.
