Mario Tennis Power Tour is a handheld tennis game for Game Boy Advance with a role-playing style structure. You create a player at a tennis academy and work through lessons, practice minigames and matches against fellow students, earning stat improvements in areas such as power, speed and control as you progress. Story mode ties matches together with overworld exploration and conversations, while separate exhibition modes let you play straight singles and doubles matches using Mario series characters. Play uses the standard shot types, with topspin, slice and lob options and special shots that are charged up during rallies. Matches are viewed from behind the court, and multiplayer is supported by link cable. The tennis fundamentals are the same as the console entries, presented in 2D sprite art.
