Micro Machines on Game Boy is a top-down racing game in which tiny toy vehicles compete on courses built from everyday household surfaces. You race over breakfast tables, garden paths, workbenches, pool tables and bathroom fittings, with cereal boxes, tools and puddles acting as scenery and hazards. Each vehicle type suits its setting, from sports cars and dune buggies to boats and tanks, and handling changes accordingly. The camera stays pulled back on the whole track, so races are won by cutting corners cleanly and avoiding the drop off the edge of the surface, which costs you time. Falling behind the leader far enough can end a race outright, keeping events short and encouraging repeat attempts as you work through the sequence of courses.
